(Not really) Casual Calcio | #7 | 2037 – 2042 Recap

Hello there, long time no see!
First and foremost, this is a recap of Jens Richter’s four seasons following his departure from Calcio Catania at the end of the 2036/37 season. Since it will also be the final piece of FM22 content published on this blog, there will also be an overview of Jens Richter’s 20 years in football management and my take on FM22 and on this save.

Casual Calcio | #6 | The (Likely) End Of An Era

Welcome back to another installment of “Casual Calcio”!
In the last episode, Jens Richter and his Catania side won their first Serie A title, having overcome an ill-fated season prior to their title winning campaign.
This time, you’ll find out about the following season. Would there be back-to-back Serie A wins for Catania, Coppa Italia- or even Champions League glory?
Either way, Jens Richter – the main protagonist of this journeyman – and Oaky – the writer behind this blog – may be waving goodbye to Catania and potentially also to this series at the end of this season.

Casual Calcio | #5 | Looking For A Turnaround

Welcome back to “Casual Calcio”!
Last time we met, Jens Richter guided Calcio Catania to 2nd place in the Serie A table, essentially only missing out on the title due to one horrific goalkeeping error. Whilst he was looking to go one step further the following season, things didn’t turn out that way at all. Due to Richter’s lack of ideas on how to solve the problems that occurred during that season, the stand-alone season review blog was scrapped. Therefore, this blog will summarize both that season (2034/35) and the season that followed (2035/36) at once. Read on to find out which problems occurred in 2034/35 and whether or not Jens Richter managed to turn things around the following season.

Casual Calcio | #4 | Of A Revolution And ‘What If’-Questions

Welcome back to “Casual Calcio”!
In episode three, Calcio Catania’s first season back in Italy’s top-flight, the 2032/33 season, was summarized. This episode covers the following season and focuses on Jens Richter’s busy time in the transfer market as well as Catania’s performances in Serie A, the Coppa Italia and the Europa League.

Casual Calcio | #3 | Back In The Big Time

Welcome back to the third episode of “Casual Calcio”!
Last time we met, Jens Richter celebrated back-to-back promotions with Calcio Catania. This time around, the 2032/33 season – which also was the club’s first season back in Serie A after 19 years of absence – will be covered.

Casual Calcio | #1 | A New Challenge

Welcome (back) to the story of Jens Richter that was previously known as “The Nordic Journey” and which has now been renamed to “Casual Calcio”.
In this episode, you’ll find out where exactly Jens ended up following his resignation as manager of IFK Värnamo in Sweden at the end of 2027. A brief summary of the first season at his new club is also included.

The Nordic Journey | #7 | Time To Say Goodbye

Welcome back to episode number seven of “The Nordic Journey”!
In this episode, you’ll find out whether Jens Richter decided to stay at IFK Värnamo for another season or not and how the 2027 season unfolded. Towards the end of this blog, some further changes to this series going forwards will also be introduced.

The Nordic Journey | #6 | Third Time Lucky?

Welcome back to “The Nordic Journey”!
Following a second top three Allsvenskan finish in only his second season at IFK Värnamo, Jens Richter was looking to go one step further with his team by winning their first piece of major silverware. In this episode, you’ll find out whether Richter and his team were actually able to do that in the 2026 season or not.

The Nordic Journey | #5 | A Rollercoaster Ride

Welcome back to “The Nordic Journey”!
During his first season at IFK Värnamo, Jens Richter took his new side to 2nd place in the Allsvenskan against all odds and ensured the club’s first participation in an European competition, even though it was “just” the second qualifying round of the European Conference League. In this post, you’ll find out if Richter managed to keep up this kind of form in the 2025 season and how his side did in their first European campaign.
